Herbarium and micrography
About the work
A figured herbarium takes shape on either side of the writing: heart-shaped leaves, clearly drawn veins, small flower clusters and branches in varying shades of green build a frame of surprising variety. The distribution of species and colours introduces a measured asymmetry, while the central rectangle holds the order of the text. At the top, the writing itself traces a menorah; at the bottom, it draws a Star of David. These two micrographic figures give the page a precise axis and turn word into image. The elegance of the whole arises from the meeting of botanical observation and calligraphic invention: the richness of the margins leaves the composure of the central area untouched.
